Oh, happy!

It was 4:30 in the afternoon. The sun was going down behind the clouds and I was hungry. Not just your normal everyday kind of hungry, I was hungry for something special. I needed something that would please my palette and stun my senses. I needed Lenny's.

I pulled into the parking lot and saw the wonderful all-American, red, white, and blue sign welcoming me and I could almost sense it wondering why it had been so long since I had been to visit. When I stepped out of my Civic, I smelled a heavenly smell. Bread, meat, cheese, meat, cheese, lettuce, pickles and more bread. There is no comparison to the wonderment of that combination of smells. My stomach danced in anticipation of the reward it was about to be given. My mouthed watered just at the thought of tasting that tastyful sandwich again.

I was greeted as I walked in the door. This is just one of the many pluses of going to a Lenny's Sub Shop. By no means is it the particular reason that I go, it just makes the whole experience more....better.

As I walked up to the counter to order, I answered the question before it was even asked.

"#7, white bread, cheese."

I was the only one that needed to speak. The expert who was creating the masterpiece worked in silence, and I knew exactly what to say.

"Lettuce, pickles........salt, pepper, and oregano..........olive oil........to go."

After I had paid for my masterpiece, the artist thanked me for knowing exactly what I wanted, but I must say that due thanks are in order to him. Without him, no sandwich, no happiness, no joy. Without him, Sonic drive-in.

I don't feel there is any need to explain how utterly amazing it was to eat. The flavors blended so well that there is no way to describe. You must eat it yourself to experience the joy of a #7 Lenny's sub.

The next time the sun is going down behind the clouds and you see a Lenny's Sub Shop shining out of sheer amazingness, smile, and know that joy is created there. Happiness...is created there.

Killer Bunnies

This, perhaps, is the funnest card gave I've ever played. It is, by far, the most addicting card game ever. I won't go into detail about how to play because it would take too long and you can just go here and look up the directions for yourself, but believe me when I say it's amazing.

My friend Jeremy Justice, from jeremyjustice.com, got it from his girlfriend for Valentine's Day. What a great gift! We've been playing it since then.

It was a bit confusing to learn at first, but once you get into it's quite easy to play. Reading the cards is key to understanding what you're doing. People who know what they're doing is also key to the understandment of this game. It's quite helpful. I really could just go on and on about how fun this game is, but I won't. I must highly recommend this game though, but beware... You'll get addicted and never want to stop playing.

Run, Forest, Run!

I wasn't particularly in the best mood today. The polka did help that a little, and I worked on my book today (which is looking particularly cute.) I decided to come home and take a nap. I think I fell asleep around 5:45 and woke up 3 hours later. I don't think it qualifies as a nap if it's over two hours. After I got up, I tried to motivate myself to go run (which I had been doing all day).

I finally got up the energy to go over to the REC center and run. I planned to run for about 30 minutes, a short run, and be done with it. Then, something amazing happened. The spirit of Forest Gump possessed my body (which is weird to think about), but I just started running and I didn't want to stop. When I got to 40 minutes, I thought, "I can go for an hour" When I hit the hour mark I told myself to go ten more minutes, which lead to ten more minutes, which lead to ten more minutes. That is when I stopped. I thought an hour and a half of running was quite enough.

I lost count of the mileage after 4 miles, I just quit caring, but I think I figured that I went about nine and a half miles.

It's nice to know that I'm only 4 miles away from the half marathon at the end of April.

Roll out the barrel!

Today, I learned to polka.

Opposite/Opposite

This is pretty simple. I'm just comparing things that I don't like to things that I do like. That's it.

Small talk/Having a long conversation about nothing with good friends
---I hate small talk. It's awkward and it means nothing. I wish that I could get past this, but I can't. If I'm talking to someone I know about nothing and having a good time about it, I find this to be productive, even if the conversation isn't.

Chicken on the bone/Buffalo chicken fingers

---It's the gristle that gets me, and the fact that I'm gnawing on a bone, but mostly the gristle. When that stuff gets in my mouth, I freak out. I don't know what to do with myself. Again, I have put myself in an awkward situation. Buffalo chicken fingers, on the otherhand, are my new favorite thing; no bones, and a very low possiblity of chicken fat in my mouth.

Cars that tell you when you should drive by honking/Courtesy honking

---The other day, while it was snowing, I was trying to turn right. Before I even got a chance to turn right, the car behind me honked at me. I thought it was a bit rude, but I put it behind me. I looked left seeing if I could go, and there were some cars coming, so I decided to wait because there wasn't anybody behind the two cars that were coming. Well, I got honked at again. This made me angry. I felt as if it was my, and only my, decision when to decide when to turn. On the other hand, I believe that courtesy honks are necessary sometimes. For example, when the light has been green for a good 7 seconds, give a little toot so the person knows when to go. Patience people, don't make things awkward.

I think that I'll continue this when more things come to me. I'm finding things all the time that annoy me.

Uhhhhh.....

I hate it when I sneeze (or don't sneeze) and my right eye and only my right eye gets all watery. Not fun. At all. Ever.

Si Se Puede: The Tale of the Two Girls

Once upon a month or two ago, two friends set off on a magical adventure to a mysterious place called Lansing. (That's in Michigan. It's the capital, not Detroit.) After half a muffin loaf, a bag of cheese puffs, fruit jammers, and many glorious sightings of water towers, they were still in the evil land of Indiana, home to nothing and more nothingness. Twelve hours passed and Indiana seemed to never end. Si se puede was the only thing that kept them going. Finally! The Michigan state line, "Great Lakes, Good Times", and they weren't kiddin'.

One hour later, they arrived at "the parent's" friendly abode. Hugs and Excitement greeted them at the door. Those are the parent's names, Hugs and Excitement. Hugs (a.k.a. the Mom) cooked a meal fit for a king, or at least two very hungry girls. For you see, they only had had half a muffin loaf, cheese puffs and fruit jammers all day and they were quite hungry. The meatballs, rice, and mashed potatoes were extremely well accepted by the two girls. Then, they slept.

Fortunately, they woke up just in time to celebrate the new year with Excitement. Hugs was not feeling well, so she slept the new year away. Then the two girls slept some more.

On Sunday, the girls were quite hethanistic and did not go to church, but ordered pizza and watched movies all day. They explored the luxurious town of Dansville, population 503. Then they slept.

Monday was quite a day for the two girls. They explored the quizzical, yet fascinating, Lansing Mall. After buying the same cowboy boots, one of the girls (the one with red hair) decided to show her new boots off at Finley's, a tasty restaurant, and then at the movie theater, where the girls watch "Fun with Dick and Jane". They laughed at some parts, and at some parts they didn't. After the movie, they went home and slept.

Tuesday brought even more joy and happiness for the two girls. They started their day by having a splendid run with Happy the Labrador (the redheaded girl's dog). Red nearly tossed her cookies, well parfait, after a lovely run, but she pulled through and did not vomit in those people's yard. After freshening and beautifying, Red and Bruney made their way to the Mason Library where they sent an electronic message to all their friends letting them know how much fun they were having. After that, the most extraordinary thing happened, they sang on the capital steps! With their voices ringing in the heavens, some locals took some pictures to keep as souvenirs for when the two become famous. Bruney, whose first time it was in Michigan, had her first Beaners coffee experience. It was good coffee. Now, it was off to the Irish Pub, for Red and Bruney, for some good times with old friends. There were many people there, because it's a restaurant, but there were 5 of Red's friends sitting at one table together. Since it was an Irish Pub, Bruney and Supa Fichelle decided they should dance a jig right there in the restaurant. So, they did. So, one Monte Cristo and Cheeseburger later, we were waiting to watch "The Producers". Some of the friends thought it would be a fantastic idea to try to catch KitKat bites in their mouths from the second floor, it was a valiant effort but proved unsuccessful. Then they went home and fell asleep.

Wednesday was the day they had been looking forward to all week long. It was the day they would see "it". It was an early start on the cold wintry morning. The two girls met Friend at Big Boy for breakfast. After a nice chit-chat, they headed westerly towards Nashville. Five United Bretheren Churches later, they arrived in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In a sketchy part of town, they decided to go to Goodwill, a consignment shop, and a local Wendy's. Yes, there are Wendy's in Michigan. Then, off to their goal, their mission, their destiny. Fruitport, Michigan. An hour later, there she was standing tall and golden in the sun, smiling down on them. Wow, what a beauty! The Great Lake was next on their list. The two girls didn't exactly know where they were going, but Bruney could "feel" the water and guided them straight to the oceanic lake. She was a bit off, but they found it anyways. The lake was marvelous and cold. Icebergs stood as if to say, "Dare not enter here, for the water is far too cold for two young girls to enter." After finding a few souvenirs, they marched the march of happiness at their findings and went to eat ice cream. Yum! Then it was back to Hugs and Excitement's house, but before they got home they took a detour to the hardware store to hang out with Excitement while he was working. Then it was back to the house for burritos, peach cobbler, and another movie. Then they slept again.

They were quite excited for Thursday to come because it was the day that they had planned to go ice-skating. Ready to take the ice, Red and Bruney set off for the rink only to find it closed and foreboding. Come to find out they were on open for only 29 minutes at a time. They had just missed it. So, what to do? Shopping, of course! They went to the Meridian Mall and looked for Bruney a purse because her other one had a large hole in the bottom, and that will never do. They tried on a couple of gorgeous dresses, but the dresses were so powerful that it overwhelmed the two girls beauty so much that all you could see was the dresses themselves. Off to the train station, but not for what you might think. They met Hugs and Excitement there for food and margaritas. It was all quite fantastic. Supa Fichelle met them to escort them to sing some karaoke, but when they got there they found not only no karaoke, but a room full of basketball fans. They hung out there for a while and then Supa drove them back to their car, and then Red drove back home. Sleeping happened.

Friday, a sad day indeed...The two girls went to Meijers (Wal-Mart) and bought more essentials, like cheese puffs and chocolate-covered doughnut holes. Those didn't make it home. The time they spent in Michigan was excitingly fun, as you all can see, and it was sad for them to leave. But, they did.

The End.

Awesomely Cheesy

You know them and love them...

This blog is dedicated to those songs that we know and love, but deep down we know that they are cheesy, confusing, or just plain dumb. It still doesn't stop me from singing them loud in my car.

"I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can see the light." --Corey Hart

"I've been through the desert on a horse with no name. It feels good to get out of the rain. In the desert, you can remember your name. 'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain." --America

"I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes. I saw the sign. No one's gonna drag you up to get into the life where you belong, but where do you belong." --Ace of Base

"Do you really want to hurt me? Do you really want to make me cry?" --Culture Club

"Unbreak my heart, say you'll love me again. Undo this hurt you caused when you walked out the door and walked outta my life. Uncry these tears I cried so many nights. Unbreak my heart, my heart." --Toni Braxton

"People, people who need people are the luckiest people in the world." --Barbara Streisand

"Don't need money, don't take fame. Don't need no credit cards to ride this train. It's strong and it's sudden and it's cruel sometimes, but it might just save your life. It's the power of love." --Huey Lewis and the News

"Sweet dreams are made of this. Who am I to disagree? I travel the world and the seven seas. Everybody's lookin' for somethin'." --Eurhymics

Anybody else have any cheesy songs?

My Top 10 (or so) Things that I learned in 2005

Okay okay, I've procrastinated long enough, but Dee's list was so good I didn't know if mine would even compare. I shall try anyways...

  1. Soap operas should be left to TV programming and kept out of my life.
  2. Talking like Slingblade will get you far in Chris Harris classes, "Just put some mustard on it."
  3. Frisbee is better than class sometimes.
  4. Freshman roommates and neighbors are awesome. Watery wonder, my friends, watery wonder.
  5. Nadine (my old van) is faithful and kind.
  6. Summer classes aren't as bad as I thought they would be. In fact, I actually had a good time in a photography class with Mr. Norton.
  7. Passing History of Photography was the most thrilling experience of my life.
  8. 40 days straight is not too long to see a friend.
  9. Knowing that I only had 2 semesters of classes left was the 2nd most thrilling experience of my life.
  10. Visiting friends, watching a drive-in movie, and hiking straight up a mountain is always a good time.
  11. There's no other way to bowl than in an afro.
  12. Boats, friends and poker is an excellent way to spend a summer day.
  13. Convincing Dee, Meagan, and Aaron that "The Blair Witch Project" was filmed in my woods was awesome.
  14. Being in my 20s isn't a big deal anymore.
  15. Erin-Marie and I making a dry-erase outline of me on the floor in front of our RA's room because that's where she fell and chipped her tooth, so we decided to make it a crime scene out of it, is one of my best memories from Cummings.
  16. 18 hours of classes didn't kill me.
  17. Being 9th place is AWESOME!
  18. Friends and family are more important than anything else in this world.
Apparently, I'm supposed to tag someone after I do this....so Dan you're it.
