Atlata Qotes

Every time Last Minute takes a road trip, we write down the funny random things that we say. These are from our trip down to Atlanta on October 22. Most of you probably won't understand any of this, but for those of you who do (and you know who you are) enjoy!

"Sherj'medecca"
"Who do you think we are FIRST Minute?"
"We made up a restaurant called Food! No! There is one!"
" The gas tank's open!!"
"Two FACEdred!"
"I can't find my oatmeal! Where is my oatmeal? I just want my oatmeal."
"(Ghostsbusters Theme) I ain't drinking no poop."
"Neighbors!"

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is what Thanksgiving is all about.

George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor -- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be -- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks -- for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation -- for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war -- for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed -- for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted -- for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

And also, that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions -- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually -- to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed -- to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord -- To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us -- and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

Anti-Smoking Campaign

Smoking is bad for you.

We've all heard this time and time again, and yet it doesn't get through to some people. I had an idea for some time that I thought would be funny to do to help people quit smoking, but mostly for my own amusement. The only items that I require are a good pair of running shoes and a video camera.

The idea is to spy down someone that is smoking. Most of the time you can find these "smokers" standing outside of buildings with cigarettes inbetween their fingers. Now, I must find someone that I believe that I could outrun, hence the running shoes. Once I pick out my prey, I run up to them and yell, "SMOKING IS BAD FOR YOU!!!", and then procede to run away very quickly. If they chase me, all more the fun. As for the video camera, I would need an assistant to assist me videoing the event. Because this is mostly for my own amusement, I, of course, would like to see it.

This idea came to me a few years ago while I was here at college. I have always wanted to do it, but have never had the nerve to. One day.....one day....

$1.94

How could I be so excited because of this price? I could buy 19 packets of ramen noodles with 4 cents left over, but that's beside the point. I bought gas for $1.94 a gallon today. I was thrilled that gas was $1.94 a gallon. I haven't bought gas for $1.94 a gallon in a long time. But, I've told people this before; I don't think that gas should be over $1.50. I had no reasoning for this; it should just be so. The end.

Whisper Laughing

You know when you're sitting in church and the person next to you says something funny and you just have to laugh but then you end up shaking the whole pew, or it's late at night and you don't want to wake people up but you just need to laugh so you just sit there and let your shoulders shake?

This, my friends, is what is called the whisper laugh.

The queen of the whisper laugh is my friend, Dierdra Elkins (name has been changed for confidentiality) . Her whole body shakes and she kinda snorts to keep the loudness in. Believe me, it's funny. If you know Dierdra, she's normally a very loud laugher, so this extreme change in laughter styles is quite funny in itself.

Bolded.

I've decided to update my favorite movies every now and again. (The updates will be bolded.) I've noticed that I somehow missed some, go figure, so the list will continue to grow. :o)

Boredom has taken over.

Because I have nothing to do,
I sit here and write this to you.
I don't want to sleep,
It just makes me weep.
Oh gee, this is not something new.

To Kermit and Piggy on their wedding day.

I’m so happy to be here tonight toasting the two most influential Muppets on their wedding day, Kermit and Miss Piggy, or should I say Mrs. The Frog. Kermit, I’m so happy that you finally decided to ask Piggy to marry you. It’s about time! And Miss Piggy, I’m sure you’re thrilled because you have waited so long for this day. We got a glimpse of this beautiful day when you put on that Broadway show in “Muppets Take Manhattan”, but the real day has finally arrived. I’m sure you’ll both be as happy as pigs in the mud, no offense Miss Piggy.

You both have influenced me in ways that I’m sure you didn’t know, and I’m sure I didn’t know that I was being influenced by you when I watched you on television. When I think of you two, it takes me back to my childhood when I used to watch your entertaining movies and the reruns of your television show. You’re both so dramatically different and yet you’re both so funny in your own little ways.

Kermit, you’ve always been so caring, and you always cared about other people’s feelings. Though you had your moments of frustration, like when something was going wrong with the show, you always know how to handle a stressful situation. You taught me to be kind to everyone I meet, no matter if they were black or white, or green or blue or orange or a monster. You probably didn’t even know that you taught me these things, but I thank you because you made me a better person.

Miss Piggy, I always have loved all of the quick, witty remarks that you retort back to people who make you angry. You always know how to put someone in their place. You also know how to get people to listen to you with a quick, “Haaai-yah!” I’ve never been able to completely master this skill. The ability to send someone flying across a room is rare today, and I will continue to try and master it. No matter how many times you karate-chop Kermit across the room, you still forgive and love him. I have learned from you how to get out my aggression and frustrations, but also how to forgive and love.

It is my hope that all of your many years together will be happy and karate-chop free. And when you have friglettes or tadpigs or whatever, I hope that they are just as kind, caring, witty and skilled at karate as you are. I toast to you as a fan and I toast to you as a friend. Here’s to you!

Favorite Movie

Whenever someone asks what my favorite movie is I'm stumped because they are so many. If you have ever gone to my facebook or myspace you've probably seen "the list". Someone once told me that it was for my favorite movies and not all the movies that I had ever seen, to which I responded back, "These are my favorite movies". I shall share all of these movies (which are evergrowing) with you, but first I must explain something. Yes, the list is long, but there is something about each of them that is fabulous to me. I won't explain them all, but if you would like me to explain why I like a movie I be more than happy to.

Here's "the list": (the ones in bold are new. I'll update fairly regularly or until I stop...)

A Tribute to an Old Friend

It's tough to know where to even start. This friend has not been in my life in quite sometime now and I miss him dearly, so I shall attempt to share my feelings with you about this good friend of mine.

Fredward.

I remember when you first went to live at Jeff, Dan, and Frank's apartment. We didn't even know what to call you. I mean, you were so young! I think I suggested Edward and Jeff suggested Fred, and with a bit of a switcheroo of the letters we get the delightful name that we call you today.

You always brightened up the room with you beautiful leaves, and you hung in there, too, because it was hard to live in such dark conditions. You must have enjoyed those video games as much as the other guys. Heck, you loved it so much you didn't even care about sunlight anymore.

But, slowly you started looking worse and worse, and we started to worry about you. You lost all your leaves. We thought you were dead for a long time, but we couldn't bare to part with you. So, in some slim chance that you were still alive, Jeff decided to put you out on the balcony. We don't know how you did it, but you hung in there. You're a fighter!

We noticed that you started growing some leaves out from the dirt. We were skeptical at first because we thought they may be weeds, but you were sure to inform us that they indeed were a part of you. I remember how overjoyed I was to hear that you were still alive. I had almost given up hope. I'm getting a bit teary-eyed thinking about it right now.

Oh, Fredward! If I only knew where you were now! I miss you and I love you.

Fredward, if this somehow comes your way, send me a message and let me know that your alright.

Who knew a person like me could grow so close to a ficus? Fredward the Ficus, what a lovely tree you were and are.

Yay for no class...

I get to sleep-in in the morning because my only class was cancelled for tomorrow because my teacher is sick. Noah gave me the idea to send him a get-well card. I think I shall, but in the electronic mail form.

Lyrical Genius

On my way home from a Last Minute rehearsal tonight, I began to think about the lyrics to one of our songs.

There is such genius in these words that it could move you to tears, and I would like to share these words with you.

We Go Together

Wah-oo
Shooby do wop wop shooby do wop wop
I know he's-a my baby.
Shooby do wop wop Shooby do wop wop
Yeah, he drives-a me crazy.
A wop bop a loo bop a wop bam boom!

We go together like
Ram a lam a lam a ka ding a ding a dong
Together forever like
Shoo bop shoo wada wada yippity boom da boom
Chang chang changity chang shoo bop
We'll always be like one
Wah wah wah wa-ah

When we go out at night
And stars are shining bright
Up in the sky above
Or at the high school dance
Where we can find romance
Baby, it must be love

At night I dream of you
Wah wah
And hope that you'll be true
Wah wah

Wop bop a loo bop a wop bam boom
Wop bop a loo bop a wop bam boom
We go together like
Wop bop a loo bop a wop bam boom

Just like my brother is
Shana nana nana yippity boom da boom
Chang chang changity chang shoo bop
We'll always be together
We'll always be together

If that doesn't speak to you I don't know what will. Such passion, such emotion, such drama, such feeling in those words. Lyrical genius.
